Broken Heart
Women prone to broken heart syndrome. This syndrome is usually more often experienced by women who are experiencing a stressful or sad events, such as loss of spouse, which temporarily weakened heart muscle and blood vessels can not respond normally Syndrome was originally known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, but now there are some terms indicate this condition such as stress cardiomyipathy or apical balloon syndrome.
Broken heart syndrome usually occurs after a person especially women experiencing a stressful or sad events, such as loss of a spouse, a frightening medical diagnosis, lost a lot of money or psychological factors such as stress. But until now the exact cause is not known with certainty.
Symptoms that arise are usually similar to a heart attack such as chest pain, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat and weak. But there is no blockage in the coronary arteries and no damage is permanent, so patients will recover within several weeks. This is the condition which distinguishes it from a heart attack.
Generally there are no guidelines in dealing with a broken heart syndrome. Care provided is similar to a heart attack until doctors get the right diagnosis. Most patients will remain in hospital until cured.
Women who experienced a broken heart syndrome have blood vessels that do not work optimally because of the stress hormone response that it receives. Blood vessels should be widened to allow more blood flow to the heart. But when a person experiences a stressful thing, shock or stress, the blood vessels become limited, thereby reducing the blood supply to the heart.
The researchers revealed the abnormal blood vessel responses to stress can contribute to triggering a broken heart syndrome. Until now there is no therapy that can prevent the occurrence of broken heart syndrome, but one thing that matters is someone should be able to manage stress in their lives well enough to reduce potential damage to the heart of stress hormones.
